Privacy notice
What MIFA does with personal information, why, and how to have it removed.
This notice explains how the Malaysian Indian Funeral Association handles personal data, under the Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA).
What we collect
From families arranging a funeral. Names and contact details for the family and the deceased, details from identity and registration documents needed for permits and registration, and the arrangements themselves.
From the website. If you send the contact form, the name, phone number, email and message you enter. The form is handled by a third-party form provider on our behalf.
From members and donors. The details needed to administer a membership or record a donation.
We do not run advertising trackers on this site. Where analytics is used it is aggregate and does not identify individual visitors.
Why we hold it
To arrange the funeral and the rites, to complete the registrations and permits the law requires, to administer membership and donations, and to keep a record of cases so that a family who comes back to us years later is not starting again.
Who we share it with
Only where it is needed to do the work: the relevant authorities for registration and permits, the crematorium or burial ground, the priest, transport providers, and the receiving mission and airline in a repatriation.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not pass contact details to suppliers for marketing.
Data about people who have died
Malaysian data protection law is directed at living individuals, but this association handles information about the dead as a matter of dignity rather than compliance. Details of a death, of the rites performed and of the family’s circumstances are treated as confidential, and are not published anywhere — including in an obituary — without the family’s agreement.
Your rights
You may ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, and withdraw consent for us to contact you. Ask, and we will do it.
Removal requests relating to an obituary or a testimonial are handled promptly and without argument.
